Description

The Limoncello Margarita is a tart and refreshing cocktail made with Limoncello lemon liqueur, fresh lemon and lime juices & tequila.


Ingredients

  • 2 oz Reposado Tequila
  • 2 oz Limoncello
  • juice of ½ a lime
  • juice of ½ a Meyer lemon
  • ½ oz simple syrup or agave
  • lemon zest, for the rim
  • Maldon sea salt, for the rim
  • lemon slice, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine lemon zest and Maldon salt on a small plate. Rim margarita glass with lime juice and dip in the salt and zest mixture. Fill with ice.
  2. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine tequila, limoncello, lime juice, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake for 30 seconds to chill.
  3. Strain margarita into prepared glass and garnish with a slice of lemon.

Notes

I recommend using Meyer lemons for this recipe because they are much more floral, sweet and fragrant in flavor than a standard lemon. You can usually find Meyer Lemons in the winter and early spring.
